REPRESENTATIVES FROM the European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL) met European Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc in Brussels recently.
TISPOL President Aidan Reid and General Secretary Ruth Purdie joined Antonio Avenoso, Executive Director of the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) to discuss Project EDWARD, TISPOL’s new initiative to cut death and injury on Europe’s roads. The first Project EDWARD takes place on Wednesday 21 September 2016.
During the meeting, Commissioner Bulc signed the Project EDWARD pledge (www.tispol.org/edward/pledge) and encouraged every road user to do the same.
Afterwards, Aidan Reid said: “It was encouraging to hear Commissioner Bulc’s whole-hearted support for the work done by those who police Europe’s roads and specifically for Project EDWARD. We were delighted to witness as she made her own EDWARD pledge.
“We assured the Commissioner of our commitment to work with our partners to reduce death and serious injuries across Europe, and to work towards the ultimate goal of making every day a Project EDWARD day, where safety is everyone’s priority and no road user is harmed.”
