Congratulations from the Lithuanian Traffic Police on a very snowy International Women's Day! March 8 was suggested by the 1910 International Women's Conference in New York to become an "International Woman's Day". This day commemorates the movement for women's rights - to live free from violence, slavery, and discrimination; to be educated; to own property; to vote; and to earn a fair and equal wage, and actually the right to drive.
Today officers from the Lithuanian traffic police service are giving flowers to women at the wheel - as a commemoration of the equality of all road users, and to encourage mutual caution and respect, the guiding principles of the safe traffic and environment.
