Congratulations to Sgt Peter Woods, who has won a TISPOL President's Award for his outstanding contribution to road safety. He was first attested to the service in 1993 and began his career on beat duties in a suburban station in Dublin. In 1998, he was a member of the team that founded the Garda Mounted Unit and went on to become a leading expert in the tactical deployment of mounted resources in community policing and public order scenarios.
