France: road deaths rose nearly 10 per cent in January

The number of people who died on the roads in France jumped by almost 10 per cent in January this year compared with January last year, a contrast to the “historically low” numbers seen in 2019.

Figures published last week by road safety agency la Sécurité Routière show that 260 people died in road collisions in mainland France in 2020 compared with 237 in January last year - a jump of 9.7%.

The rise primarily affected young people aged 18-24, as well as scooter drivers, bike riders, and car drivers. The death rate dropped among pedestrians.

 The 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety has come to an end. Now the real work begins!

The TISPOL Leadership participated in this high level conference on road safety, which had a big influence of them.

The Swedish capital city, Stockholm, hosted the minister-led delegations which representatives from the world of industry and research, international institutions and organizations. All of the representatives contributed with knowledge, commitment, joy and an open mind for change under the two days that the conference lasted.

Croatia: officers engage with youngest traffic participants

Police officers from the Road Traffic Safety Department of the Koprivnica-Križevci Police Administration held an educational lecture at the Kindergarten "Potočić".

Through the picture book "Traffic Safety" published by the Croatian Post, the youngest traffic participants aged 2 to 7 from the group “Lions” and “Butterfies” are introduced to safe crossing over the roadway, which is served by zebras and traffic lights, how to cross the railway, how to use a children seat belt and important pedestrian traffic signs.
