Poland: 19-year-old driver commits 29 violations in effort to flee police

During a recent speed enforcement operation in Skarzyski county, police officers pursued a driver who didn’t stop at a control point. In the process of avoiding the control, the 19-year old BMW driver committed 29 traffic violations and accumulated 167 penalty points.

New figures uncovered by BBC Radio 5 live have found that more than 2,000 (2,169) people in the UK were caught driving at more than 100mph in the year 2014/15. The fastest driver was caught in Cambridgeshire travelling at 156mph.
The BBC obtained the figures after making a freedom of information request to all of the police forces in the UK. In total, 41 out of the 45 forces responded to the request and provided information.

Guardia Civil Traffic Police in Murcia detained a truck driver under the influence of alcohol. The 40-tonne truck was stopped at a road checkpoint. Traffic Police officers observed that the truck was highly damaged in one of its sides; the damage was consistent with the truck hitting the metal barriers at the side of the highway. The driver’s behaviour showed clear symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. The alcohol tests were positive, with a level of alcohol eight times above the permitted level (1.15 mg/l).

This first-of-its-kind pan-Asian public service initiative seeks to raise awareness about one of the world’s leading causes of death and provide clear and simple life-saving information through the dissemination of educational messages on road safety.
