Croatia: Failure to wear a seatbelt in a vehicle carries a high risk of personal injury and death

Because of their physical underdevelopment, children are the most vulnerable road users, especially if they are involved in pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle occupancy.

Recent studies have shown that as many as 70 to 80% of children's car seats are not used properly, and in Croatia this percentage is around 90%, neglecting the fact that proper placement of children in the car seat reduces the risk of injury and more than 90%.

Caring for the protection of children when transported in a vehicle from the earliest days should be the responsibility of every parent.

Italiy's Polizia Stradale wins Prince Michael Award 2019 edition for “Safe School Trips“ programme.

The Italian Polizia Stradale (National Road Police Force) has won a 2019 prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award for “Safe School Trips” programme. 

HRH the Prince Michael of Kent  delivered the prize to the Polizia Stradale Deputy Director Santo Puccia during the annual ceremony held at the Savoy Hotel in London Tuesday 10 December 2019. Member of the Italian Delegation were also TISPOL President of Honour Paolo Cestra and the member of TISPOL Operations Group Alessandro Lo Dico.

300-plus drink and drug driving arrests in Ireland since start of Christmas campaign

Since the Christmas Road Safety Campaign started on Friday 29 November 2019, there have been more than300 drivers arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving. 

In total, 264 drivers have been detected driving under the influence of alcohol while 37 persons have been detected driving under the influence of drugs.

Tragically 136 people have lost their lives on Irish roads to date – an increase of 8 in comparison to the same period last year.

Honorary President receives medal from Spain's Guardia Civil

TISPOL's Honorary President, Paolo Cestra, recently received the Medal of Spain's Guardia Civil at na ceremony in Madrid. Colonel of the Polizia Stradale, Cestra has been the President of TISPOL for more than two years, ending his term in April 2019. He is currently the Honorary President. Throughout his term, he has been leading the Organization brilliantly, maintaining this organization in which the Agrupacion de Trafico de la Guardia Civil (Spain) is present, always active and strengthened.  

Almost 2,400 Emergency Service Drivers Certified to Higher Driving Standard Since 2014

A total of 2,384 emergency service drivers have been certified to the higher Emergency Services Driving Standard (ESDS) since the training system was introduced in 2014, it was announced today by the Road Safety Authority (RSA), along with representatives of the emergency services.

The figures were revealed to mark the fifth anniversary of the introduction of ESDS at an event in the Dublin Fire Brigade Training Facility in Marino Dublin.
