Digital Tachograph Manipulation Course in Tampere, Finland 30th - 31st Jan 2018

The joint working group of TISPOL and ECR, named as TWG, is dealing with manipulation on digital tachographs in trucks and busses for passenger transports. For years the members of this TWG are developing strategies how to find those manipulations. They share their knowledge during regular meetings in different memberstates of the EU. They are held for example in Brussles (B), Cologne (GER), or Ispra (I).

 

Top Royal business award for Road Safety Support International (RSSi)

Road Safety Support International (RSSi) today received a prestigious Royal business award in recognition of the company’s efforts to reduce road casualties across the world.


RSSi was honoured to receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category, which was presented by His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent at a special ceremony at the company’s office.


RSSi provides a unique range of specialist services to the police and highway authorities, and has worked hard to export British enforcement and road safety expertise overseas.

Ireland – ‘Operation Enable’ Court Convictions

On 5 January, in the Dublin District Court, seven motorists were convicted of offences involving fraudulent use of disabled parking permits. The offences were detected in recent months as part of ‘Operation Enable’ an ongoing initiative to tackle permit misuse, launched last year by Irish Police and led by Sergeant Peter Woods of the Dublin Metropolitan Regional Roads Policing Division.

Minister Ross welcomes Garda commitment for another 10% increase in traffic police numbers

Provisional road collision statistics for 2017, published by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) following an analysis of fatal collision reports supplied by An Garda Síochána, show that there has been a 15% drop in road deaths in 2017 compared to 2016. 

Young German police officer killed in motorway collision

A 23-year-old German police officer was killed and two other officers were seriously injured in an accident with a truck on the A61 highway near Viersen, just across the border from the Netherlands. The German police were parked along the highway, waiting for the truck after the Dutch police warned them about the truck's driving behavior, NOS reports.
