Croatia: 1,000+ locations used in 24-hour speed control operation

Croatia conducted 24-speed control, from 06,00 am on 18th October till 06,00 on 19th October on the whole territory of the Republic of Croatia.

On more than 1.000 locations police officers together with fixed speed cameras caught 2.870 speed violations, which is 29% more than in April.

The peration was presented on national TV as well as on a lot of local media.

There was 15 days period prior to operation given to citizens to send locations on which they want police to measure speed.

The peration was successful and police are planning to do it again.

UK announces tougher sentences for killer drivers

Drivers who cause death by dangerous driving or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs could now face life in jail under Government plans.

The maximum sentence for causing death by speeding, racing, or using a mobile phone will be raised from 14 years to life, making the offence equivalent to manslaughter.

A separate offence, causing death by driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs, will also rise from 14 years to life. 

Operation Trivium 9: police continue fresh crackdown on mobile criminality

Police officers across Europe are delivery excellent results in their crackdown on criminals using the roads. As part of Operation Trivium 9 taking place throughout this week, officers in six European countries (including the UK and Ireland) have been stopping vehicles and checking drivers' details with the purpose of dealing a major blow to mobile criminality across Europe.
