European speed enforcement operation runs all this week

Police officers across Europe are conducting speed enforcement operations all this week, starting on Monday 17 August. During the TISPOL operation, officers will use a number of speed detection methods across all types of road.

The purpose of the operation is to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding, and to remind drivers of the benefits for all road users of driving at speeds that are both legal and appropriate.

European drink-drive operation results show too many drivers are still ignoring warnings

RESULTS FROM last month’s TISPOL drink-drive enforcement operation reveal 17,006 drink-drive offences from 1,124,163 roadside breath tests. Motorists in 28 European countries were also checked for drugs, and 2,764 offences were detected. The operation took place between 1 and 7 June.

TISPOL President Aidan Reid said: “Any time a person gets behind the wheel after drinking alcohol is one time too many. These figures show that there are still people who think it’s acceptable to drink and drive. 

Europol supports Operation Trivium 4 in the UK and The Netherlands

Europol has supported UK and Dutch law enforcement authorities in a weeklong operation to tackle criminality across the UK and The Netherlands through national roads policing.

Operation Trivium 4 ran simultaneously in various locations in England, Wales and The Netherlands. It targeted foreign national offenders who utilise the road networks, as well as human trafficking, organised property crime and drugs trafficking.
